The Role
We are seeking a Senior Civil Technician to join our expanding team in our Cardiff office. You will play a key role in producing high-quality Civil drawings and models, coordinating with engineers and other disciplines, and contributing to the smooth delivery of a wide variety of building projects.
Key Responsibilities
Produce clear, accurate Autodesk Civil 3D models, AutoCAD drawings and details to support the design and construction of below ground drainage, SuDS features, levels and external works and highways.
Prepare general arrangement drawings, sections, details and schedules across a range of different projects, from early stage feasibility, through planning, statutory approvals, tender and construction.
Work closely with Civil Engineers and in-house Structural and Geotechnical colleagues to help deliver coordinated design information.
Assist with design coordination by sharing information with external Architects, MEP Engineers and Contractors.
Follow established BIM standards, workflows and protocols, helping to ensure consistency across project outputs.
Support contractors regarding drawing information queries, information sharing and transfer and clarifications during the construction period.
Manage your day-to-day tasks effectively, maintaining quality and meeting agreed deadlines.
Skills & Experience
Essential
Good working knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D.
Experience producing civil drawings and models for projects in the UK.
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Strong communication skills, comfortable working with engineers and external design partners.
Understanding of BIM principles and coordinated model processes.
Ability to organise your own workload and deliver work to deadlines.
Skills & Experience
Essential
Full working knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D.
Experience producing civil engineering models and drawings for projects in the UK.
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, both internal and external where appropriate.
Strong communication skills, comfortable working with internal engineers, external design team members and approving authority representatives (highways, drainage, SAB, etc.).
Contributing to internal workload planning, through feedback on modelling and drawing task timeframes to meet deadlines
Ability to organise your own workload and deliver work to deadlines.
Understanding of BIM principles and coordinated model processes.
Contribute to a constant improvement in drawing and modelling tools, workflows, standards and details for efficiency, quality and reliability reasons.
Good construction knowledge, including below ground infrastructure coordination.
General understanding of drainage systems, SuDS, external works and highway works, to inform good modelling and drawing practice.
Experience using Common Data Environments such as : 4Projects, Dalux, Asite and others.
Desirable
Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) or similar collaborative BIM tools
Awareness of ISO 19650 roles, responsibilities and processes.
Motivation to continue developing your technical skills, progress your career, be an active part of team improvements and technical mentoring of junior technicians
Awareness of drainage modelling software on a drawing, model integration and model export basis
