Who We Are
Curtins are an employee owned and award winning engineering consultancy. We take pride in the positive impact we make on the world around us and have delivered practical and innovative solutions for over 60 years, building a better future for everyone.
Joining Curtins means more than just being involved in project delivery – it means becoming part of a warm and welcoming team, where your skills can evolve, your career is nurtured and we work together to create a lasting legacy.
The Role
You will lead delivery on a portfolio of projects and be supported by a mix of experienced and junior engineering and technician team members. The role involves overseeing the delivery of drainage and sometimes S278 design for healthcare, private sector, schools or other building related projects. You will be responsible for the team members' development on projects via role modelling collaborative working with other disciplines. You will have line management opportunities alongside project delivery works.
We are well known locally for working on projects like: Aire Park and the Tetley Brewery redevelopment, the Wellington Place masterplan, Leeds Urban Village, as well as many other high-profile developments where you can walk to site from the office. We are also proud to work for a number of local healthcare Trusts including the new hospital programme at Airedale General Hospital. Our work in the education sector is across the north and allows many of our team members their first opportunity to lead the civil engineering design for a project.
We are looking for a senior civil engineer to mentor and support team members in meetings and on software as well as assist in coordinating resources across the team. There has been a large influx in work in the education sector leading to recruitment in the team.
The Right Fit
You will have experience of leading and managing some projects; including developing design delivery programmes ensuring that the project team are always in communication and schedules and resources are planned appropriately.
Required experience includes:
Chartership with ICE or CIWEM (or equivalent) or demonstrably working towards.
Focus on face to face interaction and supporting diverse team members as a line manager and technical lead.
Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and engagement with statutory authorities to achieve the best project outcomes and training opportunities.
Experience of using design software packages, primarily Civil3d and Causeway Flow.
Above all the right fit will be guided by what is right when making decisions, who recognises the contribution of others and shares their successes. Someone who is kind, conscientious and has pride in their work and the legacy our profession leaves for everyone.
