Team Leader: Structures
Inspire a team to develop to their full potential
We usually respond within a week
Since the establishment of our Leeds office nearly 40 years ago, Curtins has re-shaped and enhanced the skyline of our towns and cities in the Yorkshire Region.
Our Leeds office is looking for an energetic, self-motivated and enthusiastic team leader at Principal Engineer or Associate Level who embraces technical challenges but is also able to see beyond these and be a positive force in the office and wider business. We’re looking for someone who sees the value and potential in people and who is prepared to nurture individuals to bring out their very best.
We’ve built a strong team in our Leeds office; our success is down to the people we’ve engaged and developed. We’ve grown sustainably and continue to deliver some of the smallest (<£1m) and largest (>£1bn) schemes in the region for new and existing clients in a variety of sectors such as Healthcare, Residential, Leisure, Commercial mixed use, Schools and Higher Education.
What you’ll be doing
You will be responsible for managing and developing a team of up to 8 people. You will lead that team in the delivery of a portfolio of projects. You will be responsible for people management (colleagues and clients where appropriate), financial management, quality and project management within your team.
You will contribute towards developing and delivering our business strategies in the Leeds office, and where appropriate the wider business, driving innovation and best practice. You will also have the opportunity to engage in Business Development, through the development of a network of clients and partners.
The ideal candidate will be someone who has experience leading and managing multi-disciplinary design projects, including developing design delivery programmes with an understanding of and involvement in project finances.
You will be a competent leader who thrives in client meetings, contributing effectively and working collaboratively with our clients, partners and the wider project team to develop viable, sustainable and cost-effective design solutions.
You will be working within a highly respected team on a wide range of high-profile, technically demanding and award-winning building and urban regeneration projects in Leeds and Yorkshire. Our live commissions include the >£1bn Tetley Brewery redevelopment for Vastint, the hugely successful Wellington Place masterplan for MEPC and the development of Dyecoats on Kirkstall Road for Clarion Housing, as well as many other high-profile mixed-use city centre developments. We also work for a number of local healthcare Trusts, including the >£1bn Securing the Future Programme at Airedale Hospital near Skipton.
What we need from you
You’ll be a chartered engineer (or actively working towards this under a recognised professional institution training pathway if at Principal Engineer level).
You will have some experience of leading a team of engineers and technicians in the delivery of a wide range of projects and be able to inspire a team to develop to their full potential.
You’ll be able to explain our ideas and solutions clearly and concisely to project teams and clients and always be seeking new opportunities for the business and your team.
Above all the right fit will be guided by what is right when making decisions, someone who continually challenges themselves and others to improve; and recognises the contribution of others and shares their successes.
If you like variety and are a positive disrupter with leadership skills, and are committed to continuous improvement, for both you and those around you, please get in touch.
