Our Kendal office is a 15-strong multidisciplinary team
providing structural engineering, civil engineering, flood risk and technician/BIM services. We work across Cumbria, Lancashire and the wider North West, delivering projects ranging from £50k to £80m across the education, healthcare, commercial, residential and conservation/heritage
sectors.
The team includes active members of ICE and IStructE, with experienced staff able to support professional development, training and career progression.

The Role
We are seeking a Structural Technician or a Senior Structural Technician to join our expanding team. You will play a key role in producing high-quality structural drawings and models, coordinating with engineers and other disciplines, and contributing to the smooth delivery of a wide variety of building projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce accurate and coordinated Revit models, drawings and details for building structures.
- Work collaboratively with Structural Engineers and other in-house disciplines (Civils, Flood Risk) to deliver integrated design information.
- Engage in design coordination with external architects, MEP engineers and contractors.
- Attend client and design team meetings when required and represent the technician team professionally.
- Support the development and maintenance of BIM standards, workflows and protocols.
- Contribute to project planning by estimating drawing and modelling effort, and managing deadlines and quality.
- Assist in training and supporting junior technicians, where appropriate.
- Work across a range of materials including steel, concrete, timber and masonry.
- Produce general arrangement drawings, sections, details and schedules to a high technical standard.
- Help ensure that digital outputs meet project and practice standards.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Revit for structural projects.
- Experience producing structural drawings and models for building structures in the UK.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary design team.
- Good communication skills, with the confidence to be client-facing in coordination activities.
- Understanding of BIM principles and coordinated model workflows.
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload to meet deadlines.
Desirable
- Experience with AutoCAD, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) or other BIM-related tools.
- Working knowledge of ISO 19650 Roles, Responsibilities & process (Previously described as BIM Level 2)
- Experience on refurbishment, existing building or heritage projects.
- Familiarity with RC detailing principles (even if not full RC detailer level).
- Desire to develop into a Senior Technician role or continue progression.
- Experience working with Common Data Environments such as 4Projects or DALUX
